Yame is a warm tea producing area in the southeast of Fukuoka Prefecture. The first Yame tea is said to be from 1423 when a Buddhist monk brought back the tea tree seeds from the Ming Dynasty of China.

The warm climate, huge daily temperature difference, and the fog of Yabu River Basin are the key factors to the supreme quality of Yame tea.

Yame sencha has a unique nutty flavour due to the special terroir  and soil of this area.
