Located in the western part of Shizuoka Prefecture, Kakegawa City is one of the birthplaces of deep-steamed sencha. Deep-steamed tea has thicker and warming mouthfeel and fragrance. 

Kakegawa Tea is renowned to use the traditional organic fertilizing method, in which tea farmers use the grasses cut around the tea farms to cover the field. It can make the taste and aroma of tea more pleasant, and it is recognized as a world agricultural heritage.

位於靜岡縣西部的掛川市是深蒸煎茶的其中一個發源地。現在的掛川茶以深蒸煎茶爲主流,茶葉蒸製得比一般煎茶更久,令到深蒸煎茶口感更溫潤。

另外,掛川茶的產地也採用傳統茶草場農法,以茶園周圍割下的芒草等物覆蓋在茶樹根部,爲傳統的有機施肥方法。茶味和香氣更出眾,視為世界農業遺產。
