Gyokuro is one of the most premium Japanese green tea. It is only made of the best quality of tea leaves in good quality regions. Tea farmers have to cover the tea trees with grass for 20-30 days before harvest.

 

Without exposing to sunlight, gyokuro develops a very special flavour and fragrance called umami in Japanese, resembling that of seaweed. The texture of gyokuro is thick and smooth, lingering on your tongue with the umami fragrance, hence the name in Japanese means "Jade Dew". Learn more about gyokuro here.
